Beach

We love our beaches and we know you will too! Enjoy 10 miles of soft sand and FREE beaches along the Atlantic Ocean! Water activities abound for the adventurous beach goers or sink your toes in the sand and slather on the sunscreen for a relaxing day at the beach. During the summer, you’ll find free family activities including movies, concerts and fireworks!

The Ocean City beach is open to the public from 5:00am—10pm (beach cleaning takes place overnight).

Bonfires are allowed on the beach, by permit only.  More information, including regulations, restrictions, and to apply for a permit online, visit ocbonfires.com.

Animals are only allowed on the beach and boardwalk between October 1 and April 30. Pets must be leashed at all times and the owner is responsible for removing any waste.

Swimming

The Ocean City Beach Patrol is on duty during the summer between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The mission of the Beach Patrol is to provide safety for all beach-goers. This is a reminder to never go in the ocean when the beach patrol is not on duty!

Surfing

Surfing is only permitted on two surfing beaches announced daily on local radio stations or you can visit the Beach Patrol website.

Surf Fishing

Surf fishing is permitted in Ocean City but be sure you are not within 50 yards of swimmers or of anyone on the beach between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Please note that you are required to have a Salt Water Fishing License. Visit the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for more information.
